Appointments:
Please call 919-782-5273 to schedule a 'same-day' or 'future' appointment.
Following are some guidelines on what you can expect when scheduling
an appointment with our Practice. Every attempt will be made to
schedule your appointments with your "Preferred Provider",
however, when this is not possible, you will be referred to another
Provider within our Practice.
| - |
Medical
Emergencies: You may be seen in the office or you may be referred
to the Emergency Room on that day. |
| - |
Urgent
Problems: You will be seen in the office on that day. |
| - |
Sick
(and non-Urgent) Problems: We generally are able to accommodate
'same-day' appointments, depending on the specific situation,
etc. You will be seen within two working days. |
| - |
Every
effort will be made to work "walk-in" patients into
a provider's schedule. There is a $28 fee for "walk-ins"
who have not called ahead for an appointment. |
| - |
Routine
Follow-Up: You will be given an appointment within three weeks
of your request. |
| - |
Routine Well Infant,
Child, and Adolescent Visits: Every attempt will be made to give you an appointment
within a few weeks of your request. We may be able to offer the appointment on
the same day of the request, depending upon the time of year and last minute
cancellations. |
| - |
Shot
Records: within 2 business days |
| - |
School
Forms: 3 to 5 business days |
| - |
Kindergarten
Exams: Special kindergarten physical sessions are scheduled
throughout the summer months. Requests for other times during
the year will be scheduled by appointment. |
| - |
Flu
Shot Clinics are scheduled in the fall. |
After Hours Care:
Please call our office at 919-782-5273 if you have a problem that
can not wait until the next business day.
| - |
For
medical emergencies, call 911 or go directly to the emergency
room. |
| -
|
For
urgent care, the answering service will contact the Physician
"On-Call" at that time. If you have not heard back
within 20-minutes, please call the office again to let the Answering
Service know that the Physician has not returned your call. |
Prescription Refills:
Call your Pharmacy and ask the pharmacist to fax a request for refill
approval on your medication(s). Please allow 24-hours for processing
pharmacy requests for all refills. In order to avoid any complications
or last minute problems, it is suggested that you:
- Place your refill request at least one week before you run out
of the medicine(s).
- Always check your medication bottles to see if you have more refills
authorized at your pharmacy.
- Follow up with your pharmacy, not our office, to determine if
your refill has been processed.
Telephone Calls:
Our Providers return phone calls when finished with their morning
and evening schedule of seeing Patients. Our nurses return phone
calls throughout the day. Unexpected patient emergencies may delay
a return phone call. Please leave a reasonable amount of time for
the Provider to return your call.
Advice Nurses:
Advice nurses are available from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday.
There is no charge for this service. Please call 919-782-5273 to
leave messages with the operators for the Advice Nurse. An operator
will collect specific information regarding your concern, pull your
child's chart and give the message to the advice nurse. Based upon
the information you provide, the nurse may need to consult the physician
before returning your call. However, every effort is made to return
phone calls within two hours.
After 5 PM, requests for medical advice will be forwarded by the
answering service to a pool of advice nurses at WakeMed. There is
a $10 fee for this service. However, the fee will be waived if the
call results in an Emergency Room visit or Office Visit within 24
hours. The fee is also waived for newborns from birth to age 2 months.
Referrals:
Please make an appointment with your Primary Care Provider "first"
if you need a Referral. If you miss your Referral appointment, once
made, it will be your responsibility to reschedule that appointment.
Your Provider can handle most of your child's healthcare needs and
will refer you to a trusted specialist when specialty care can improve
your health. Please allow us five business days to obtain each referral.
Other Suggestions to Help Us Help You:
| -
|
Please be prompt for your scheduled appointment. If you arrive more then ten minutes late, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment, or see a different Provider. This is in consideration of our other Patients who arrived at the office on time for their scheduled appointment. |
| - |
If
you are not able to make your scheduled appointment, we ask
that you notify our office 24-hours in advance in order to avoid
a "No Show" fee of $25.00. This fee is not covered
by most insurance companies. |
| - |
Always
bring your medication(s) with you. |
| - |
Always
bring your insurance card with you and notify us if there has
been a change in your insurance carrier. |
| - |
Ensure
we always have updated personal and insurance information on
you and the Patient, in the system, in order to expedite insurance
and claim filing. |
| - |
